Samsung S24 Ultra Review Buy or Not in 2024?

Just Repair

Published August/03/2024

Are you looking for an expert guide on the Samsung S24 Ultra review? Welcome, you are almost there. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is still our favorite camera phone, and its smart scene optimization capabilities have earned it a spot on our new list of the best AI phones to buy.

Samsung is always enhancing Galaxy AI features, and its writing style AI tools are the best you can find on any smartphone. Of course, Apple is gradually making its way into the AI smartphone market, but for the time being, Samsung and Google are the dominant players. In this detailed guide, we will help you know the features, specs, camera details, display, battery timing, and performance.

Samsung S24 Ultra Features

New anti-reflective, anti-scratch screen with brighter display

Even more striking is Corning's new anti-reflective, anti-scratch glass, known as "Gorilla Armor." The anti-reflective qualities are reminiscent of Samsung's S95D OLED TV from CES 2024, which has a remarkable anti-glare screen that retains all of its vibrancy. The same is true for the S24 Ultra, which makes its screen more fun to use than the iPhone 15 Pro Max and other premium phones.

Then there are the scratch-resistant characteristics. It was used without a case for three days and did not get a single speck on it. I've used it frequently since then, and there isn't a single scratch on the screen.

Upgraded camera system, with new zoom

The S24 Ultra new 5x camera upgrades from a 10MP to a 50MP sensor, allowing it to provide a 10x magnification by simply zooming in and utilizing all of the extra data from having five times the megapixels to generate a sharp, clean image. It performed significantly better than expected, with results at least as good as prior Ultra models' 10x zoom photographs, and in some cases clearer and less noisy.

AI features in cooperation with Google

It included the new Galaxy AI features, such as Live Translate and Text Call with friends and family who speak several languages (Chinese and Korean), reimagining images with Generative Edit, and discovering other practical ways the new phones may improve our lives.

Flatter, more polished design

This year's standard and Plus Galaxy S24 phones seem unabashedly similar to the iPhone 15, with flattened edges, symmetrical bezels, and a new OneUI lock screen/always-on dynamic reminiscent of iOS 17. The antenna bands on the sides of the phones are almost identical.

Samsung S24 Ultra Performance

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is now at the top of the heap in terms of Android smartphones, boasting some of the most powerful, well-built portable electronics anyone could ask for, with the potential to accomplish practically everything. When you utilize the screen on apps that need frequent user input (taps), your device's battery will drain faster. 6 to 7 is in the middle of the battery; some may get a bit more, while others receive a little less.

You are referring to 1% per hour. Your device is connected to WiFi, 4g / 5g, and will sync email, Facebook, WhatsApp, and any other apps that you use regularly. This all uses up battery power. 1% per hour is a low rate, and I would be extremely pleased with that. It appears that the way you use your device consumes an average amount of battery power.

Samsung S24 Ultra Display Quality

Samsung provided three significant display advancements with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, elevating this device to the top tier of premium smartphones in terms of display quality. This is the nicest smartphone display screen that I've ever seen or used.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is the first and only smartphone to include Corning Gorilla Armor on its display glass. This means that the display should be more durable than any other smartphone, particularly resistant to scratches. Gorilla Armor also reduces glare and reflections, which was extremely useful during the solid month.

There's the display screen itself, a significant improvement over its predecessors and a clear differentiator from the competition. The 6.8-inch dynamic AMOLED display has a resolution of 1440 x 3120 (505 PPI), a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, a 120 Hz dynamic refresh rate, with HDR10+ support. It can also produce an impressive peak brightness of 2600 nits.

To be clear, there is nothing wrong with the displays on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Pixel 8 Pro. However, the panel of the Galaxy S24 is technically superior, albeit slightly in real-world usage. Simply said, this display is ideal for almost any application, thanks to its vibrant colors, excellent contrast, and deep blacks. The bezels are minimal, and I like how the selfie camera cutout is placed and modest, so it doesn't interfere with video playback.

Samsung S24 Ultra Camera

Speaking of photographs, the S24 Ultra has a phenomenally strong and crisp quad-camera system on the back, with a 200-megapixel wide, 50-megapixel periscope telephoto, 10-megapixel telephoto, and 12-megapixel ultrawide sensors all working together to provide clear, rich, and very detailed photos.

Furthermore, the camera technology allows you to quickly switch from.6x to 100x zoom with astonishing stability and clarity. The rear cameras can also record video in 4K Ultra HD resolution at up to 60 frames per second. During my testing, the movies were clear and fluid, with no stuttering or latency.

Furthermore, when viewing films in the Samsung Gallery app, you can press and hold on the video file to watch it back in slow motion, which allows you to see moments in greater detail.

Samsung S24 Ultra Battery Life

One of the nicest and most impressive features of the S24 Ultra is its battery life. In sum, it makes other smartphones appear feeble. With relatively casual use, such as sending text messages, making phone calls, listening to podcasts, light web surfing, and shooting a few photos, the battery life lasts about four days and five hours (about 100 hours).

If you're a casual smartphone user, you'll easily get more than 90 hours of use before needing to charge it or plug it into a wall outlet. However, if you are a moderate or heavy user, the battery life will drop.

From what I've experienced so far, the new AMOLED display with 2600 nits of peak brightness hasn't really pounded the battery; it's on par with the S23 Ultra in terms of power usage in this area, while also being considerably more legible in bright conditions. It remains an LTPO AMOLED display, with a refresh rate of 1Hz while static images are displayed to conserve power.

Charging Speed

The S24 Ultra is the sole new model that supports 45W rapid charging. Samsung refers to it as Super Fast Charging 2.0; however, it does not operate at a superfast pace. Any charger that is compliant with the Programmable Power Supply 2.0 (PPS) standard and has a compliant cable will be able to charge at the utmost rate of 45W. The 5000mAh battery is fully charged in approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes from a low of under 10%.

Samsung S24 Ultra Unboxing

The Galaxy S24 Series includes a USB-C to USB-C connection, a SIM ejector tool, and a quick start instruction in the box. When you preorder the Galaxy S24+ or Galaxy S24 Ultra, you will receive a complimentary travel adaptor.

Samsung S24 Ultra vs. iPhone 15

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro are indisputable Android and iOS champions, respectively. Choosing amongst them is determined by your priorities and preferences. Finally, the ideal option relies on your specific requirements. If you want the newest specs, personalization, and the S Pen, the S24 Ultra could be your champion. If you value a smooth Apple environment, user-friendliness, and long battery life, the iPhone 15 Pro could be the perfect fit.

Samsung S24 Ultra vs. S23 Ultra

At first appearance, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra resembles the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. This includes angular rather than rounded corners, a quad-lens camera with the same lens arrangement, a glass back, a metal frame, and a big display with a punch-hole camera and thin bezels.

The S24 Ultra also has an IP68 classification, which means it is as water and dust-resistant as the S23 Ultra. However, some aspects differ, such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra's aluminum frame against the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra's more expensive titanium frame.

Samsung S24 Ultra Price

The S24 Ultra is pricey, beginning at $1,299.99. However, if you want more storage than 1TB, the cost might soon rise to $1,659.99. Is it worthwhile? I'd say yes if you want the best Samsung smartphone with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, which won't be upgraded for another year. With all of its AI capabilities, premium display size, bundled S-Pen, quad-camera system, and high-end specifications, it's well worth the price, especially if you're part of Samsung's ecosystem of devices.

Final Thoughts

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has almost every advantage as a premium smartphone for the new digital age. The display is bright, sharp, crisp, and clear, with smooth action. Its camera technology can take excellent, detailed photographs at up to 100x zoom. Its software and AI elements are useful and effective, yet erratic and unpleasant at times. The battery life is extremely long, particularly for casual users. With a few exceptions, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is the best phone Samsung has ever produced in terms of design, materials, camera system, and AI functions.
